Cookies are small files that are saved on your computer when you browse websites. They contain information related to your browser and the sites you visit. Cookies consist of two parts: name and content. They are saved in a specific folder on your hard drive and each has a unique ID and duration. When you return to a site, the cookie allows the site to recognise you and continue the history. Some cookies clear themselves when you leave the site, others remain on your computer as long as you do not delete them.
Cookies are not active programs, so they are not dangerous for your computer. They are not always used for commercial purposes either. Some are used to facilitate surfing; they avoid having to enter certain data at each visit (log in, screen settings). Which web pages are visited? How many? What route is used to get there? How long does the visitor stay on the site? Based on these results, the site can be modified according to the visitor's interests and needs. E.g. by displaying personalised information.
There are generally two types of cookies:
First-party cookies and third party cookies.
The Rive Gauche website mainly uses first-party cookies. They are designed to make surfing easier. We use them to record certain information, such as pages visited and length of visits. In order to best surf our websites on your computer, tablet or mobile phone, it is better to accept cookies.
The Rive Gauche site also uses third-party cookies: those of Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a free service provided by Google, which collects statistics from websites and makes a detailed analysis of them. The site manager thus has a clear idea of visitor flows, traffic sources and page views. It is thus possible to modify all or part of a site according to the results and interests of Internet users.
By adapting your browser settings. You can choose to block all cookies or only accept cookies from certain sites.
Will blocking affect your ease of navigation on the Rive Gauche site? Yes and no. You can always browse our website even if you have deactivated all or some of the cookies. But you will only be able to navigate to certain personalised pages of our websites by accepting cookies. Your browsing will generally be more difficult if you refuse all cookies. Some parts of the site will not work. In other words, it is better to avoid blocking cookies completely.
